Life in Vietnam:

Still largely undeveloped, the Vietnamese civilization is quite diverse and intricate. From bustling cityscapes of millions of inhabitants, to quiet rural countrysides, that are hardly influenced by western society, Vietnam has it all.


History of Vietnam:
Vietnam‘s recorded history stretches back to 3rd century BC, prehistoric Vietnam was home to some of the world’s earliest civilizations and societies. The Viet people are some of the world’s first people who practiced agriculture and rice cultivation. Vietnam is one of 25 unique countries that possess a high level of biodiversity and Vietnam is home to 16% of the species in the world.

Vietnam is a country that has been remolded a multitude of times. It borders the south of China and has been greatly influenced by its northern neighbors. Vietnam has 1,200 miles of coastline along the South China Sea. It has dealt with a gradual influx of trade and foreign influence since the 1500s. This war torn country has suffered for hundreds of years and fought in many wars. Vietnam was also invaded by France in 1859 and their control over the subsequent years greatly effected Vietnam. France had a large influence on Vietnam and it wasn’t until 100 years later ,after Vietnam war, that they received their independence.

Modern Day Vietnam:
Once an enslaved and dominated country Vietnam has been liberated from foreign invasion for close to 50 years. The economy is booming, tourism is increasing, education is on a steady incline and people are happy. Vietnam is finally living in peace as a nation. You can witness the happiness and pride of the citizens as they go at great lengths to educate their children, grown their families, and develop their businesses.

With 54 distinct ethnic communities and many native languages Vietnam is one of the most diverse countries in all of Asia. In the mountain town of Van Dong, close to the China border, lives a rich community of Viet-people who adhere to their culture through the way live. Their native garments are an integral part of their culture.
